Times right now, are generally good… I’m in good health, the kids and the wife are doing well. I took my hall on a ski/snowboarding trip on Sunday, it was nice to actually get off campus and to see snow… amazing stuff this snow is, its cold, wet, and fun to slide on with a innertube; I wish snow would have been invented when I was a kid. It was a nice drive up to Willamette pass, even though it was in two huge vans, the residents went in one van (the one Liz, my co drove) and Patrick and I took another van that had all their snowboards and skis in. Within 5 minutes out of town we were led astray… I’m not putting any blame on anyone, but lets just say I took the lead to the pass…. overall a very fun and easy trip.
The weather in Eugene lately has been great, nothing by clear skies and 65 degrees. Yesterday, I took 3 hours out of my morning, to sit outside with some residents and read The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac; what a great book, it makes me like his writing even more. Yesterday was definitely a no shoe day, and I adhered to that principle for most of the day. The closing of my day was just as good as the beginning; about 3:30 in the after noon Anna and I sat outside Condon hall on a blanket and just conversed on everything we thought about; this was original vision of college.
This Saturday, My hall and another hall will be doing this planet a good deed, we are going tree planting out by a lake. We have 45 residents signed up for the 5 hour karma regeneration activity (community service), it should be a fun day. Its really awe-inspiring when I see all of the things people around the city of Eugene that people donate or at least give us a break on cost; everyone from the University to Equipment companies around the city are loaning and donating supplies and money to our activity. More updates at a later point in time.
